21st ANNIVERSARY OF THE CINCO DE MAYO FESTIVAL
23rd Street is a major north–south arterial street running through Richmond and San Pablo, California. The corridor is widely recognized for its concentration of Latino-oriented businesses, particularly restaurants and small retail establishments, making it an important cultural and commercial hub for the area.
Commerce and Culture
The street functions as one of Richmond’s primary commercial corridors and is especially known for its Latino-themed businesses. Since 2006, the 23rd Street Merchants Association has organized an annual Cinco de Mayo Festival, featuring a parade that begins at Nevin Avenue in Richmond and continues into San Pablo. The festival attracts thousands of attendees, is alcohol-free, and is designed to be family- and youth-oriented. The corridor has also been a gathering place for immigration-related demonstrations.
